Broken In Billie Jacket - Heart Chainstitch

The Billie is a chore coat for kids who don’t sit still. It’s cut from 100% post-consumer denim rescued fabric that’s already been broken in by whoever wore it first. This one got something extra: an anatomical heart chainstitched in red and butter yellow on the left chest by Sterling Stitching. There is exactly one. When it’s gone it’s gone.
Chainstitch is old-school embroidery. It’s the looping slightly raised stitch you know from vintage workwear and bowling shirts. Each line is steered by hand on a chainstitch machine so no two designs come out the same. That fits a jacket made from reclaimed denim where no two pieces come out the same either.
