Iraca (Toquilla palm) is a sustainable Colombian fiber prized for its traditional use in the famous Panama hats bags and jewelry. In our solar-powered workshop artisans transform these palm fibers using ancestral techniques - harvesting carding and naturally dyeing with seeds leaves and minerals. The fibers are carefully wood-fired dyed and shade-dried before skilled weavers create our timeless fair trade pieces.
Each piece in our jewelry and accessories collections is fair trade (Belart is a proud member of the Fair Trade Federation Green America MSA-Museum Store Association and NEST). They are thoughtfully handcrafted by master artisans combining sustainable and natural materials like Tagua seeds Iraca-Toquilla palm fiber up-cycled wood clay and upcycled horn with eco-conscious metals and resins.
