Fisherman Knit Knitting Pattern

Skall Studio knitting pattern for our Fisherman knit. (OBS this is NOT including yarn) 
We have a deep admiration for the Skagen painters a group of Danish Impressionist artists who gathered in the village of Skagen. In particular we love the work of Michael Ancher whose dramatic depictions of fishermen often feature them wearing rugged knit sweaters adorned with classic Aran patterns. The silhouette of this sweater was inspired by the beautiful old houses of Læsø with their distinctive seaweed roofs and rounded organic shapes. Fisherman Knit is a heavy-weight knit with generous volume—not only thanks to the rounded sleeves but also because it’s made from a thicker yarn knitted with three strands instead of two. The extra weight brings boldness and definition to the stitch patterns from cables and braids to seed stitch and ribbing.

½ CHEST CIRCUMFERENCE 66 cm
LENGTH 44 cm
RECOMMENDED NEEDLES Circular needles size 3.5 mm and 5 mm 80 cm long. Optional: Double-pointed needles size 3.5 mm. Cable needle.
GAUGE 16 sts x 28 rows = 10 x 10 cm in stockinette stitch on 5 mm needles.
Please note that needle sizes are guidelines. If you knit tighter than the gauge use larger needles; if you knit looser use smaller needles.
YARN Triple 800 g (165 m/100 g) from Hjelholt Spinning Mill.
CONSTRUCTION
The sweater has an oversized fit and is knitted in the round from the bottom up. The body is divided at the armholes and knitted back and forth separately from there. The shoulders are shaped with short rows and the shoulder stitches from the front and back pieces are sewn together at the end. Stitches are picked up along each armhole for the sleeves which are knitted in the round from shoulder to wrist. The sleeves are worked using the Magic Loop technique or alternatively with double-pointed needles. Finally stitches are picked up for the neckline along the front and back neck edges. 
When right and left sides are mentioned it refers to the sweater’s right and left sides.
