Russet Tunic in Mudcloth

The Russet Tunic is named for the heritage apple variety found in old English orchards.  The

Russet Tunic has a deep V-neck with three corozo nut buttons. Sleeves are wrist length but easy to roll up. It has a broad collar backed with the inside of the exceptionally special Mudcloth. It is a stylish top made of dense handloomed cotton - easy to belt or not the ideal layer for the season. 
Herd’s S/S Collection deepens our connection to nature and its seasonal rhythms with the introduction of hand-loomed plant-dyed cottons from Japan and India. Dyed spun and woven in their country of origin these fabrics sit alongside our British wool and leather which represent centuries-old textile heritage native materials in their natural ecosystems and multi-generational skills handed down family lines. Herd’s philosophy is to replenish and nourish the soil landscape animals and craftspeople we work with along the way. Our fabrics grown from the soil and processed without toxic chemicals can return gently to the soil - a ‘soil to soil’ system by which all our products are made.
S/S25 is named the Pomona Collection for the goddess of fruit trees gardens and orchards. It is inspired by a life lived in the rhythms of the seasons.

Fabric - The

Russet Tunic is made of cotton canvas hand-dyed using mud and laid out to dry in the sun where the colour changes from grey to the warm rust-brown colour over the course of months. These textile artisans who abide by the principle of seed to cloth are using natural and traditional methods within their appellation. The fabric is grown and made from seed to fabric in Japan. 
Proudly cut sewn and finished in our studio partner based North of London.
Washing - Cool wash with similar colours. Line dry. Cool iron if desired.
