The Chicago trainers are made of 59% recycled polyester/ 41% Sorona®. The sole contains seaweed allowing us to save considerable amounts of water and energy during the production process. These algae are harvested to clean up waterways as their rapid growth negatively affects ecosystems. Therefore instead of simply being a waste product they are converted into part of the soles.
Sorona® is a biopolymer derived from the residues of maize production thereby cutting down on the use of fossil fuels. What’s more it can be recycled along with polyester.
