Mayamiko is a sustainable fashion brand founded by Paola Masperi in 2013, rooted in Malawi, Africa. The brand emerged from the Mayamiko Trust, a charity established in 2008 to empower disadvantaged Malawian women through training in sewing and tailoring. Mayamiko's collections are inspired by African artisanal traditions, utilizing locally sourced fabrics like 'chitenje' and incorporating global influences such as plant-dyed jewelry from Sri Lanka and hand-knitted Peruvian hats. The brand operates a solar-powered workshop, employs zero-waste practices, and is committed to fair trade principles, ensuring workers receive living wages and work in safe conditions. Mayamiko's dedication to sustainability and ethical practices has earned it recognition, including the CO10 Leadership Awards in 2019 and 2021.
